If
you dont have a feature, feature yourself,
said Jimmy Woode to me, before he played his
bassolo on `The Man from Potter´s Crossing`.
That was in 1989, on my first tour with the
"Paris Reunion Band".
Being on the road and on stage with these guys,
was the best university for me. I got an idea what
jazzmusic and feeling is about.
Since then, a lot of things happend. The music
changed and I learned a lot about music-business.
But Jimmy´s words are still alive.
If you want to keep something going in jazz-business,
"you have to feature yourself". Otherwise you have
no chance to let people know what´s your "idea about music".
